Grow your business
Our connections extend beyond the home.
Nest has partnerships with more than 40 retailers across 8,000 stores in 11 countries around the world. We have a network of Nest Pros who are always looking for new products to offer their customers. And we work with energy and insurance providers like SolarCity, Direct Energy, and American Family to give your customers extra features and rewards.
We keep adding new features.
As we release new products and services we add new APIs so you can do even more with your products. New technologies, like Nest Weave, give you more ways to Work with Nest. And by giving you access to tools like the Nest Home Report which is sent monthly to every Nest customer, you get new ways to interact with your customers.
Nest and Google
Interested in working with both Nest and Google? We’re making it easy for developers to build products for both programs. Nest and Google are working closely on common schemas, so the same product can work with Nest and Google with little cost and overhead.
Be part of the Works with Nest Store.
Once your product has been certified to work with Nest, your customers can look for the Works with Nest logo and know that your product works seamlessly and securely with Nest. Your product will also appear in the Works with Nest Store where a whole new audience can find and discover your products.
Nest Weave doesn’t rely only on network security. It provides its own, independent end-to-end application layer security. The Nest Weave security stack also has application-specific encryption keys. So someone can’t unlock your front door by hacking your patio lights.
All our cloud API connections use SSL. Which means communications between Nest and third-party developers are always encrypted.
Data storage security
You need to secure data in the cloud, on your app, and the product itself. That’s why Nest performs regular security audits against its cloud infrastructure.
We only share a limited amount of data.
With the Nest Developer Program, our goal is to make sure you have everything you need to build great integrations – without violating customer trust. Depending on the integration, that may include access to basic home and device data, HVAC system specs, smoke and CO status, Home and Away states, or Rush Hour Reward events. We only share the minimum amount of information necessary for an integration to work. And we don’t share any usernames, passwords, email or home addresses. Period.
We always ask permission before sharing customer data.
When a user connects one of your products or services with Nest, we want to make sure they understand exactly what the benefit will be and what information will be shared. That’s why we require you to let our users know what data you’re requesting from Nest and why.
We can revoke access at any time. And so can our users.
Every company we work with is required to follow a list of guidelines that limit how it can use the information our users have agreed to share. We take those rules seriously, and can revoke access at any time. Users can also disconnect any integration whenever they’d like.
Unlock your Nest home.
The Nest x Yale Lock is a tamper-proof, key-free deadbolt that connects to the Nest app. You can unlock and lock your door from anywhere. Give people you trust a passcode, instead of a key. And always know who comes and goes.
Your lights can look out for you.
When Nest Cam senses motion when you’re away, your Philips Hue lights can turn on and off as if you’re home.
A brighter way to think about fire safety.
If Nest Protect detects smoke or carbon monoxide, LIFX bulbs can flash red to let you know there might be danger and help alert those who are hearing impaired.
Your garage knows when you’re home. Or Away.
Open the garage when you arrive, and Chamberlain can tell Nest you’re home. Close it on your way out, and your thermostat can go into Away mode so you don’t waste energy heating or cooling an empty home.
Lights, shades and thermostat. There’s one app for that.
Control your lights, shades and thermostat all in one place. The Lutron Caséta Wireless App lets you adjust the temperature and set your Nest to Home or Away from anywhere.
Plugs that help deter and secure.
When Nest Secure is armed and you’re away, TP-Link’s smart plugs can make it seem like you’re home by randomly turning on things like speakers, lights, and TVs. And they can turn on a device to make it look like someone’s home when Nest Cam detects a person.
